The flagstones and brickwork are now complete. Next up is the pillars and a black undercoat. Why black? Well Nick got his hads on some grey textured spray and we all know what that does to unprotected foam: melt! That would be some thoroughly unpleasant – and unwelcome – ‘weathering’ of the model.
The base outside of the model has been cut down somewhat as I will be creating both rocky and flatter areas around it. The model in the Fellowship Journey Book is terrific, but then I saw how Forgeworld finished theirs. It struck a chord with me and so I will pay homage to it. The brown Sharpie marks are where the rocks will be built up, the green is the flat(ter) area.
